How to build a recognizble web3 brand

Pudgy Penguins : a deep dive into their web3 strategies

Welcome back legends 👋

Hope you’ve been well❣️

Today we’re going to see how Pudgy Penguins:

  • have succeeded to take over the Crypto Twitter

  • plan to become a recognizable international brand

The past week, they’ve taken over the web3 world by storm by announcing the Pudgy Toys.

The Pudgy Toys represent a toy collection launched on one of the biggest marketplaces: Amazon.

It seems that there were more than 20,000 toys sold in the first 2 days. Isn’t it crazy? 🤯

But this project of cute avatars is more than just an NFT collection.

It's rapidly becoming a global brand with a reach much broader than the web3 world.

Here are 9 strategies they’re using in order to do it:

I. Scaling

Pudgy Penguins recently raised a significant $9M in a seed round, which they plan to use to scale their team and the potential of their intellectual property.

This strategic move indicates the brand's strong growth trajectory.

II. Physical collectibles

As we’ve seen above, they’ve taken advantage of the IP rights by launching the Pudgy Toys.

Besides the fact that it offers them a bigger brand recognition, they’ve succeeded to generate recurring revenue from outside the web3 space.

III. Cuteness factor

Is there any human being on this planet that doesn’t like their adorable penguins?

Don’t think so.

They’re made to appeal to both young and adult audiences.

This is a smart way to increase their global recognition.

As their CEO says: “For people to fall in love with the web3 space, they have to fall in love with the character.”

IV. Creating a culture for all types of audiences

They've managed to reach over 500k followers on Instagram by sharing their unique culture beyond the web3 space and making it appealing to the web2 audience as well.

V. Storytelling

Creating an emotional connection with their community is a vital part of their brand.

They've succeded to use the power of storytelling to engage their audience and build brand loyalty.

VI. Community collaboration

Successful brands necessarily need a strong community formed around them.

The members of Pudgy Penguins:

are highly engaged with one another

share user-generated content

They even have a page where members can submit gif ideas for their pengus and it will be done for them.

How cool is that?

No wonder members have a strong sense of belonging to the club.

VII. Interactive community events

Community members can form a deeper connection by attenting irl events, virtual treasure hunts or interactive challenges.

And of course the searching experience for this kind of events is made as simple as possible by having all of them in a single place (click on the below image if interested in it).

VIII. Cool collaborations

By doing parterships with web2 companies, they've expanded their brand's exposure beyond the web3 space.

IX. Good initiatives

Last November, they teamed up with Sotheby's for an auction for 11 NFTs.

10% of the proceeds went Oceanites, a nonprofit that researches penguin populations.

This move added purpose and impact to the brand.

Building a long lasting IP requires a lot of work but, if done right, it can be very rewarding.

And it seems that Pudgy Penguins are taking the right steps towards it.

The question now is - what other factors could accelerate the adoption of the blockchain technology?

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

That’s all for now! If you’ve made it till here, I truly appreciate you!
